      Grades 4-8 These imports from England profile Formula 1 racing champions. Despite being heavily Eurocentric, the Racing Legends series offers thorough introductions to the world of international Grand Prix. The books are filled with biographical facts, statistics, descriptions of tracks and racing venues, and copious details about famous drivers, cars, and racing franchises (Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull, etc.). Ample background information appears throughout. Max Verstappen introduces this youngest-ever Grand Prix winner and three-time and current World Champion, while also explaining the racing circuit and points system and emphasizing how Verstappen uses video-game simulators as a training tool. The books are authored by a long-time BBC racing commentator, and his enthusiasm is effectively conveyed through an abundance of exclamation points. Busy pages feature numerous black-and-white drawings, charts, and graphs. There's a fair amount of repetition both between and within the selections, but the colorful covers, wide-ranging topics (noise levels, engine specifications, fan clubs) and vivid descriptions of pivotal races will engage and satisfy browsers and racing enthusiasts.
