A bomb explodes in Copenhagen's busiest shopping street just before Christmas. An extremist terror organisation claims responsibility
in a video message and promises that this is just the beginning of a global terror campaign. On the same day, a bomb
explodes at a mosque in Cape Town. A young Dutch-speaking woman is found in the rubble with serious burns and a South African
is arrested on suspicion of involvement.
Former diplomat, Johan Castelyn, who lives in Antwerp and works under cover for the French Secret Service, is tasked with investigating
leads in Amsterdam and Cape Town to find answers that could help prevent further attacks. Johan is dismayed to learn that one of his
relatives is also implicated in the attack due to ties with a right wing organisation.
Before his departure, a compatriot ex-colleague who is now ambassador to Washington DC, asks Johan to investigate his daughter's
activities and involvement with an extremist religious leader. On a personal note, he is excited by the prospect of re-establishing
contact with a woman from his past in his country of birth.
How will Johan and agents from various security services extinguish this threat before it becomes an inferno? And who will live and
who will die?
